CSS is not applied to the marimo app

When I run marimo edit I see a weird layout, clearly with no styling.

It is so frustrating because I was so happy to find marimo available in the limited environment I am working on. I am working on a secure remote pc with no internet connection and limited tools available, however marimo v0.16.5 is available through a local Conda channel.

I have tried to find the error, but no luck.
This is what I know/found out:

• Marimo packages have pre-built frontend with all relevant frontend files in the _static directory in the marimo package
• I can see multiple js and css files in _static/assets in this installation
• The frontend does not pull any js or stylesheet via cdn?
• There is no status code not in 200 when loading marimo in the browser
• Seems like my folder has all the js and css files from the local server
• Jupyter works fine

Any idea what the problem is or how I can debug it further?

Solved (or found the error):
Marimo 16.5 uses Tailwind 4.1.13 which is based on native cascade layers (@layer).
The browser available in the remote desktop is Chrome v94, which does not support modern CSS features like native cascade layers....
Wish me luck getting them to update the browser 🤞
